Developed as the natural consequence of Rogers' unique relationship with the BBC, the AB1 is a passive sub-bass system designed specifically to complement the LS3/5a. The AB1 enhances the low frequency performance and sensitivity whilst easing the overall system impedance, thereby presenting an easier load to the driving amplifier. Each system is configured to act also as a stand for the LS3/5a, becoming a true stereo sub-bass unit. Connection is into the AB1 and through a high pass filter set at 120Hz, effectively limiting and optimising the cone excursion of the LS3/5a, the resultant combination delivering a coherent musical performance of exemplary breadth and accuracy.
